Synopsis
The Wizard of the Emerald City, Part II (2027) is a Russian family fantasy you can watch online on iFILM, picking up the moment Ellie and her friends finally reach the long-sought Emerald City.
Their awaited audience with the wizard Goodwin comes with a catch: he will grant their dearest wishes only if they fetch him the magic storm of the vengeful witch Bastinda. So Ellie, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion set out for the dangerous Purple Country, where Bastinda and her Flying Monkeys are ready to give them a hostile welcome. Ekaterina Chervova plays Ellie, joined by Yuriy Kolokolnikov, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Artur Vakha.
This is the second chapter of the saga adapted from Alexander Volkov's beloved books, which themselves reworked L. Frank Baum's Wonderful Wizard of Oz into something distinctly Russian. Igor Voloshin directs. The appeal cuts both ways: readers who grew up on the tale get to measure their imagined land against the screen, while younger viewers discover it for the first time.
