Vishwaroopam

Vishwaroopam (2013) is an Indian action thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Kamal Haasan directed, wrote and stars as Vishwanathan, a Kathak dance instructor living quietly in New York.

His wife Nirupama, an oncologist deep in nuclear medicine, has fallen out of love and hires a private investigator to shadow him. What the detective digs up rewrites everything she thought she knew: the soft-spoken dancer has a past in a very different line of work. The story then slingshots from Manhattan apartments to the mountains of Afghanistan. Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Pooja Kumar round out the cast.

Haasan spent years developing the film and shot it across several languages on a budget that broke Tamil-cinema records. Its tagline — "God will save us. Which god?" — sets the register: this is a hard-edged espionage piece about sleeper cells and divided loyalties, not a dance drama. Worth a look if you go for sprawling Asian spy thrillers.
