Synopsis
The MacKintosh Man (1973) is a John Huston spy thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Paul Newman stars as a British intelligence operative willing to go to prison to crack a single case.
His cover is a diamond thief. He lets himself be arrested, tried and handed a long sentence — all so he can work his way into a gang that springs valuable criminals from jail for a price and shields a mole buried deep in government. Only one man knows who he really is: his handler, code-named MacKintosh. When the handler is killed, the cover hangs by a thread. James Mason plays a silken, two-faced politician, and Dominique Sanda rounds out the cast. The script comes from a Desmond Bagley novel.
It's a cold, unglamorous take on espionage — no Bond gloss, just a prison break, a chase across Irish backroads, and layers of double-cross. One for fans of lean older thrillers and Newman at his steeliest. Stream The MacKintosh Man (1973) online on iFILM.
