Synopsis
The Cloud (Die Wolke, 2006) is a German disaster drama you can watch online on iFILM. A reactor near the small town of Schlitz fails, and a radioactive cloud begins drifting over the countryside.
Sixteen-year-old Hannah grabs her little brother and runs while neighbors fight for seats on the last trains out. The road strips away everything she trusted, and she meets Elmar, another teenager the disaster has thrown off course. Radiation plays no favorites: the death toll climbs into the tens of thousands, and survivors carry the label "contaminated" for life.
Director Gregor Schnitzler adapts Gudrun Pausewang's young-adult novel, written in the shadow of Chernobyl as a warning. Paula Kalenberg plays Hannah with no heroics — just an ordinary girl handed a grief too big for her.
