Synopsis
Battle of Memories (记忆大师, 2017) is a Chinese sci-fi thriller you can stream online on iFILM, directed by Chen Zhengdao. In a near-future world where memories can be extracted, archived and reinstalled, a novelist played by Huang Bo signs up for a retrieval procedure — hoping to recover what his failing marriage cost him.
The operation misfires. He comes out of it carrying a serial killer's memories instead of his own. Detective Sha, played by Duan Yihong, is already hunting that killer, and the two men's paths lock together in ways neither anticipated. The longer the writer lives inside someone else's past, the harder it gets to tell where the murderer ends and he begins.
