Synopsis
Batman & Bill (2017) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce. The official story of Batman's creation always starred one man: Bob Kane. This film argues it was never the whole truth.
Writer Marc Tyler Nobleman spent years establishing that Bill Finger — a struggling scriptwriter who never sought the spotlight — actually shaped most of what makes Batman iconic: the dark costume, Gotham City, Bruce Wayne's origin story. Finger received no credit during his lifetime and died in 1974, largely unknown. His granddaughter Athena Finger appears on screen to describe what it means to be descended from someone history quietly erased. Adam West, Stan Lee, and Kevin Smith are among those interviewed.
