Synopsis
Happy End (해피 엔드, 1999) is a South Korean melodrama directed by Jung Ji-woo — watch it online on iFILM. A wife goes back to work when her husband loses his job. She finds more than just a paycheck.
The film works through silences. The husband (Choi Min-sik) stays home with the baby and starts noticing gaps: she leaves earlier, comes back later, answers questions with fewer words. His wife (Jeon Do-yeon) isn't lying exactly — she's just becoming a stranger in small increments. The third figure in the triangle, played by Chu Jin-mo, inhabits the space that opened when the marriage became only routine. Choi Min-sik — years before Oldboy would make him internationally known — plays the slow, specific dread of a man who suspects something he's not ready to confirm.
