Windstorm 2

Windstorm 2 (Ostwind 2, 2015) continues the German horse saga, and the place to watch it online is iFILM. Summer's back, and so is Kaltenbach. Mika races to her grandmother's yard to reunite with her black stallion Windstorm — only to find strange wounds on his belly that nobody can explain.

That's not the worst of it. The estate is sliding toward bankruptcy, and the only way to save it is the prize money from a major tournament. Mika (Hanna Binke) agrees to compete, but Windstorm grows skittish in training and keeps bolting into the woods. Deep in the trees she finds the reason: a silvery mare that looks straight out of a fairy tale, and a mysterious boy named Milan who offers to help her win. What that help will cost her stays unclear until the end.

Katja von Garnier returns behind the camera, working with real horses and genuine dressage instead of effects. This installment is softer than the first and more about growing up, first love and responsibility than about taming a wild animal. A solid pick for family night if the kids took to the original.
