Trancers
His name is Deth. He hunts Trancers. Even in the 20th Century.
Synopsis
Trancers (1984) is a cult low-budget sci-fi you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 2247. Hard-boiled cop Jack Deth chases his old enemy across time, landing in 1985 Los Angeles inside the body of his own ancestor.
Deth (Tim Thomerson) is hunting Whistler, a killer who can turn weak-willed people into trancers — slack-faced zombies who attack on command. Whistler means to wipe out the ancestors of the future ruling council and erase history at the root. Stuck in a borrowed body with no backup and almost no time, Jack teams up with a sharp-tongued young woman named Leena, played by a very young Helen Hunt long before her Oscar.
Charles Band packs all of it into a tight seventy-seven minutes — a scrappy mashup of The Terminator and pulp noir, complete with a trench coat, a hard-boiled voice-over and one-liners fans still quote. This is the film that kicked off the whole Jack Deth series and put Band's studio on the map. Perfect for anyone digging through the golden age of video-store rentals who loves trash with real charm.
