Synopsis
RoboCop (2014) is a sci-fi action film by director José Padilha that you can watch online on iFILM. By 2028, the conglomerate OmniCorp has flooded the world's wars with combat drones, and now its board wants armed robots patrolling American streets.
US law still bans machines from policing without a human in the loop. So the company waits for the right opening, and it arrives when Detroit officer Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is nearly killed outside his own home. Engineers rebuild what's left of him into a part-man, part-machine cop. OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton), scientist Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman), and a loud TV pundit played by Samuel L. Jackson each push the program toward their own ends.
Padilha, fresh off the brutal Brazilian Elite Squad films, remade Paul Verhoeven's 1987 cult classic and steered it toward a sharper question of free will: how much of Murphy is still a person once software runs his trigger finger. Stream RoboCop (2014) online on iFILM.
