Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories (2016) is a Japanese drama series you can stream online on iFILM. A small Tokyo diner opens at midnight and shuts at dawn, with no printed menu — the cook makes whatever anyone asks for. That's the whole setup. It's enough.

Kaoru Kobayashi plays the soft-spoken chef who anchors the anthology. Each episode follows a different late-night regular: someone nursing a breakup, a delivery driver who always orders the same thing, strangers who end up sharing more than a table. Odagiri Joe and Ko A-sung appear across episodes as recurring fixtures of the night-shift crowd. Directors Joji Matsuoka and Nobuhiro Yamashita kept the same unhurried tone as the long-running Japanese TV original this was adapted from for Netflix.
