The Claus Family (De Familie Claus, 2020) is a Belgian family fantasy for the holidays you can watch online on iFILM. Eleven-year-old Jules has no patience for Christmas. His father died a year ago, and all those twinkling lights only sharpen the absence. Then his grandfather suddenly falls ill.

That illness pries open a family secret. Grandpa isn't just a grumpy old man with a toy shop — he's the current keeper of Christmas magic, and the Claus surname was never an accident. If the old man can't get back on his feet by Christmas Eve, the holiday simply won't happen, and the only one who can save it is a boy who has stopped believing in any of it. Jan Decleir plays the grandfather without a drop of syrup, while young Mo Bakker carries a real story about growing up through grief.

Director Matthias Temmermans delivers a cosy winter fairy tale with a clear heart and a couple of genuinely moving beats about loss living alongside hope.
