Vitus

The older Vitus is played by Teo Gheorghiu, a working concert pianist in real life rather than a trained actor, and the keyboard sequences land accordingly. Bruno Ganz plays the grandfather — the one adult who wants the boy, not the prodigy. Murer keeps the film quiet rather than dramatic, which gives Vitus's eventual push against expectation its weight.
