Synopsis
Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror (2019) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Xavier Burgin. It traces a hundred years of American horror — how the industry used Black performers as props, pushed them to the margins, or handed them roles that existed only to die first — and how that slowly began to shift.
The film gathers voices from inside the genre: Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us), Tony Todd of Candyman, Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead, Loretta Devine, Ernest R. Dickerson. No broad claims — every argument is anchored to a specific film, a casting decision, a moment behind the camera. Once you've watched it, those patterns in the genre are hard to unsee.
