Synopsis
Police, Adjective (Polițist, adjectiv, 2010) — watch this Romanian crime drama online on iFILM. Corneliu Porumboiu directs a film that took the Jury Prize at Cannes Un Certain Regard in 2009. Detective Cristi, played by Dragoș Bucur, is trailing a teenager named Victor who sells a bit of hash to classmates in the provincial city of Vaslui.
Technically a criminal case. Cristi knows the law, knows what an arrest would mean for a kid that age, and quietly decides he cannot do it. So he stalls: long walks through unremarkable streets, paperwork left unsigned, small domestic arguments about song lyrics. Porumboiu drains the film of conventional drama on purpose, leaving only the friction between legal language and private conscience. Then Vlad Ivanov appears as Cristi's commanding officer, dictionary in hand, and the film snaps into focus. It is slow in the way that earns its ending. Stream Police, Adjective (2010) on iFILM.
