Watch Intermission (2003) online on iFILM — John Crowley's sharp-tongued Irish comedy-drama, where a whole town's lives knot together after one badly timed mistake. The tagline says it plainly: life is what happens in between.

It all starts when supermarket worker John and his girlfriend Deirdre agree to take a break. Within days Deirdre is seeing Sam, a married bank manager; Sam's abandoned wife falls for John's reckless mate Oscar; and John throws in with a small-time crook to rob the very bank where Sam works. A bullheaded detective chases his own legend through the middle of it all. The crowded cast brings together Cillian Murphy, Colin Farrell, Colm Meaney, Kelly Macdonald and Shirley Henderson.

Crowley weaves a dozen Dublin lives into something cruel, funny and oddly tender about people who all owe somebody. It's rough around the edges and better for it. Stream Intermission online on iFILM.
