Synopsis

Freshly demobbed tank mechanic Klim arrives at a Ukrainian collective farm to find Maryanka Bazhan — the district's most celebrated tractor driver, and the woman he's been thinking about since before his service. The catch: to shake off unwanted admirers, Maryanka has invented a romance with a local layabout, and Klim walks straight into it. Starting over from scratch is his only option.
Pyriev brought visible energy to the material: music by Isaac Dunayevsky, an early role for Boris Andreyev, and Pyotr Aleynikov stealing every scene he appears in.
