12+In Search of Captain Grant (Season 1)
Synopsis
In Search of Captain Grant (1985) is a Soviet-Bulgarian adventure series you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stanislav Govorukhin and adapted from Jules Verne's Children of Captain Grant.
Lord Glenarvan (Lembit Ulfsak) pulls a waterlogged message from the Atlantic — Captain Grant is somewhere along the 37th parallel, shipwrecked with two surviving sailors. No longitude, no country, no further clues. He sets out to find him, bringing Grant's children Mary and Robert along. The search covers Patagonia, the Argentine pampas, New Zealand mountain passes, and the open Pacific — each leg of the journey presenting new hazards and new characters. Alexander Abdulov and Nikolai Yeremenko are among the cast that keeps Verne's globe-trotting pace feeling genuinely energetic rather than staged.
Govorukhin was at the height of his powers in the mid-1980s, and it shows — the series moves like the novel, scene to scene without losing momentum. For most Russian viewers, this remains the Verne adaptation. Stream the full series on iFILM.
