Karen is a small-town lawyer who finds a severed finger in her bowl of chili. She does not call the police. She blackmails the restaurant. It seems like a rational shortcut out of a life that has quietly stopped working. It is not. Each move she makes to contain the fallout creates two more problems, and the spiral picks up speed fast.
