Synopsis
The Pokrovsky Gates (1983) is a Soviet TV comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by and starring Mikhail Kozakov, adapted from Leonid Zorin's stage play.
The setting is a Moscow communal apartment at the close of the 1950s. Kostik is a cheerful graduate student who falls into romance without visible effort. Next door, the divorced Khobotovs haven't quite managed to separate — Margarita still runs her ex-husband's life while her new partner Sava endures this with baffling calm. Entertainer Velyurov (Leonid Bronevoy) holds court in the hallway, rehearsing his stage act as though the neighbours were his audience.
