Synopsis

Slava Kolotilov teaches Russian in the tiny town of Palchiki. A chance meeting in Moscow with a sharp city woman named Nadia turns into a whirlwind week and a sudden decision to marry. Then everything falls apart at the train station. A blundering local official mistakes Slava for the coach of a children's soccer team, confiscates his passport and rips up his ticket. To make it to his own wedding, Slava needs his ragtag squad of boys to lose — and of course, the kids start winning.
