Synopsis
"New Tales of Franz" (Neue Geschichten vom Franz, 2023) is an Austrian-German family adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Director Johannes Schmid returns with the second film adaptation of the popular children's book series, following Franz, Gabi and Eberhard through a summer that starts awkwardly and quickly turns into something more.
Two of Franz's best friends aren't on speaking terms. That would be enough of a problem on its own — but then a mysterious theft sends the trio off on a proper investigation, and suddenly having a grudge to nurse feels a lot less important. Jossi Jantschitsch plays Franz as a kid who gets swept up in things rather than choosing to be a hero, which makes him easy to follow.
