Forty-five minutes, three hundred years of Westerosi backstory. The special covers Aegon Targaryen's dragon-fueled conquest of the Seven Kingdoms — how each royal house fell, bent the knee, or was burned into submission, and what that left behind. What makes it worth watching is the structure: different houses narrate the same battles, and their versions don't line up. The victor's account and the defeated's are two different stories.
Best watched after the main series rather than before it. For returning viewers, it fills in the dynastic and political logic the show had to gloss over between plot lines — and some of it reframes why the conflicts in Seasons 1–8 unfolded the way they did.
