The Red Turtle

The Red Turtle (La tortue rouge, 2016) is a dialogue-free animated film you can watch online on iFILM, co-produced with Studio Ghibli — director Michael Dudok de Wit's first and only feature after decades of celebrated short films. A man is stranded on a deserted tropical island and builds raft after raft, each one wrecked by a large red turtle before he can escape.

No explanation. No spoken words, ever. The film simply follows its castaway through seasons and years, letting the story find its own shape. Survival turns into something else — a meditation on solitude and connection that earns its final scenes without announcing them.
