Manto (2018) is an Indian biographical drama directed by Nandita Das — watch online on iFILM. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Saadat Hasan Manto, the Urdu short-story writer whose refusal to look away from the ugly side of life made him both celebrated and prosecuted.

The film follows roughly four years of Manto's life: first in Bombay's film industry, where his work finds readers, then across the new border to Lahore after the summer of 1947 split the subcontinent. In Lahore he finds silence instead of an audience, and obscenity charges instead of publishers. Rasika Dugal, Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal are among the cast.
