Synopsis
September Says (2025) is a brooding psychological drama you can watch online on iFILM. The film marks the directing debut of actress Ariane Labed and adapts Daisy Johnson's novel Sisters. Siblings September and July are bound so tightly it hurts — they trade a private language and keep everyone else at arm's length.
When September is expelled from school, their mother takes the girls to an isolated house on the Irish coast. Cut off from the world, September's grip on her younger sister tightens into something controlling and cruel. For the first time, July starts to push back. Fog, grey water, an empty house — the dread builds out of atmosphere rather than incident.
Labed, familiar from the films of Yorgos Lanthimos, carries that chilly strangeness into a voice of her own: surreal, unsettling, faintly gothic. This is festival cinema, not crowd-pleasing — slow, uneasy, circling a closeness that's hard to call love. Best for viewers who like tension that grows from silence.
