Synopsis
Someone to Watch Over Me (1987) is a thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Ridley Scott. Tom Berenger plays Detective Mike Keegan, a Queens cop newly promoted who gets assigned to protect a Manhattan socialite who witnessed a murder.
Claire Gregory (Mimi Rogers) was at a high-end nightclub when she saw it happen. The killer is still out there. Keegan moves into her world — penthouse apartments, art openings, a life nothing like his own back in Queens with his wife (Lorraine Bracco) and young son. It starts as a straightforward assignment. Then the lines start to blur.
Scott made this between Legend and Black Rain, and it sits apart from his larger spectacles: intimate, visually precise, built on atmosphere rather than action. Cinematographer Steven Poster uses the contrast between cold Manhattan nights and the warmth of Keegan's domestic life as the film's central tension. Jerry Orbach rounds out the cast.
