The reason turns out to be ugly: Karl owes dangerous people, and his only plan to clear the debt is a fortune resting on the seabed. Julie strikes a bargain — she covers what he owes in return for a cut and a spot on his diving expedition. Together these near-strangers head for shipwrecks and deep water, untangling their shared past along the way.
