Synopsis
iCarly: iGo to Japan (2008) is a Nickelodeon TV movie you can watch online on iFILM, based on the hit tween series. Carly, Sam, and Freddie win an invitation to an international web show competition in Tokyo — the flight over, piloted by one of Spencer's eccentric friends and packed with caged possums, establishes the tone early.
Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy slide back into their dynamic with no warm-up required: Carly wants a clean win, Sam wants to cause maximum disruption, Freddie is filming everything. Harry Shum Jr., years before Glee, appears in a small supporting role. Series director Steve Hoefer shoots it as a long episode rather than a standalone film, which is both its charm and its limitation for anyone coming in cold.
