Synopsis
What if being jealous of bloggers got old, and the easier move was to become one? Trending (2021) is a Russian comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Therapist Sanya is sick of watching kids half his age earn more from clips than he does in a year, so he decides to copy their path — figuring it can't get worse.
Sanya talks his buddy Tolik, an office drone, into starting a YouTube channel and posting a challenge video every single day. The terms are brutal: no rules, no morals, no decency — whoever fails to pull an audience in two months drops out and crawls back to the old job. From there it's a race for likes where common sense is the first thing to go. The cast features Alexander Golovin, Gleb Puskepalis and Sergey Kachanov.
Director Irina Khodyush plays it as satire on hype culture, where people will do anything dumb enough to rack up views. Light sitcom fare for anyone who recognizes half their own feed in these guys. Stream Trending (2021) online on iFILM.
