Synopsis
Blanca (2021) is an Italian crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. A young woman who lost her sight as a child joins the Genoa police and cracks cases not with her eyes but with hearing, touch and a freakish memory for sound.
Blanca Ferrando went blind after a fire that killed her older sister, and ever since she hears the world in a way no one around her can. Her internship is a fight: half the squad refuses to believe a blind woman can run an investigation. At her side are a loyal guide dog and Inspector Liguori, a man with a buried past she's drawn to against her better judgment. She solves each case by stepping into a "black room" in her head where only the one sound that matters survives.
Maria Chiara Giannetta carries the whole thing — her Blanca is sharp, prickly and a long way from the usual "strong heroine" poster. Adapted from Patrizia Rinaldi's novels and shot around Genoa rather than the usual Roman gloss, it's made for viewers who like European procedurals where the detective's character matters more than gunfights.
