Synopsis
Bogatstvo ("The Riches", 2004) is a Russian historical war series adapted from Valentin Pikul's novel, and you can watch online on iFILM. The story moves to Kamchatka in the early 1900s, where a tiny Far Eastern garrison faced a Japanese landing party alone — no reinforcements, no supply line, stranded at the literal edge of the inhabited world.
Director Eldor Urazbaev keeps the focus on ordinary people handed an impossible job: defending a vast, barely armed frontier. Officers, Cossacks, native Kamchadals and a handful of stubborn local officials make their stand. Pikul wrote about what endurance actually costs, and the series honors that — no parade-ground heroics, just daily life, sharp characters and the hard choice every person who stayed had to make.
The cast brings together Sergei Nikonenko, Sergei Batalov, Oleg Tabakov, Andrei Martynov and Gennady Yukhtin. This old-guard ensemble carries the weight in the quiet scenes that no large battle could deliver. It's one for viewers who like solid historical fiction done straight.
