Synopsis

Forget the textbook biography. Director Marvin Kren takes the historical figure and drops him into a bloody occult thriller. A wave of ritual killings grips the city, and Freud (Robert Finster) ends up working alongside a trance medium, Fleur Salomé, and a haunted police inspector. The further they dig, the harder it gets to tell a genuine séance from the workings of a damaged mind. The cast moving through this fog-soaked, near-horror Vienna includes Ella Rumpf, Georg Friedrich and Anja Kling.
This is a period piece that leans gothic rather than tasteful — eight episodes built on dread, gore, and the idea that the unconscious is scarier than any killer.
