Synopsis
Silent Wedding (Nunta mută, 2008) is a Romanian tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. A remote village, the summer of 1953: a young couple is about to marry, the tables are laid, and guests are already arriving.
Then word reaches the village and wipes out the celebration — the Soviet leader is dead, a week of national mourning has been declared, and every kind of festivity is banned. The couple refuse to wait. So the whole village commits to something reckless: holding the wedding without making a sound. A feast in silence, toasts with no voice, dancing with no music — and an absurdity that keeps swelling toward disaster.
Actor Horațiu Mălăele's directing debut blends farce and grief until the laughter sticks in your throat. The film rests on its ensemble, Victor Rebengiuc and Luminița Gheorghiu among them. One for viewers who love Eastern European fables where a single scene turns comedy into tragedy. Stream Silent Wedding (2008) online on iFILM.
