Valeriya (Elena Panova) is a gifted resuscitator. Trying to pull a girl back from an overdose, she takes a desperate gamble and fails. The dead girl's father, a powerful man named Revzin, strips Valeriya of her license to practice and threatens to settle the score through her own daughter. To disappear, she moves to Petrozavodsk and takes a job as a plain hospital nurse on the strength of an old nursing-school diploma. The plan is to stay invisible and hide her real skill; the goal is to keep her daughter safe. But a true clinician can't walk past a patient who is slipping away.
