Synopsis
The Binding (Il legame, 2020) is an Italian horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Emma travels south with her fiancé to meet his mother, and the warm family weekend curdles fast: the old house sits in a region where rural folk magic is still taken dead seriously.
That first night a strange insect bites her young daughter Sofia, and the girl begins to fade. The locals have a name for it — a "binding," an ancient curse that no doctor and no reasoning can lift. Emma, who believes in none of it, has to put her trust in a village healer and her rituals to pull Sofia back from whatever has come to take her.
This was the feature debut of director Domenico Emanuele de Feudis, with Mia Maestro and Riccardo Scamarcio leading. The scares come from sun-baked Apulian dread rather than jump cuts, with a mother's panic doing more damage than any creature. A tight 93-minute slow-burn for folk-horror fans.
