Synopsis
Porcelain House (Dom Farfora, 2017) is a Russian drama by Oleg Asadulin you can watch online on iFILM. Moscow, 1982. Katya Koroleva, a former athlete running from a criminal past back in Belgorod, hides at her sister's place and takes a job behind the counter of an upscale china shop.
The store sells fine porcelain, but the real trade happening there is power. Katya catches the eye of a KGB general, never suspecting her own sister already answers to him. As Brezhnev's death draws near, the Interior Ministry and the Committee turn on each other, and she lands right in the crossfire. There is a love triangle, too, and the old case from the provinces that won't let go. Stasya Miloslavskaya plays a woman with nowhere left to run.
What makes the show work is its grip on the late-Brezhnev texture: shortages, connections, office knife-fights, all filtered through one person's choices instead of slogans. If you like retro spy dramas set in the Soviet eighties, this one earns its slow burn. Stream Porcelain House (2017) online on iFILM.
