2000s (Nulevye, 2022) is a Russian documentary series about the country's first decade of the new century, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Each episode takes a different slice of those years and reassembles it from the people who actually lived through them.

The threads run wide. Russian cinema, which took off after Timur Bekmambetov's Night Watch. An oil price climbing so fast it left the country in a brief economic high. Moscow after dark and its clubs. Television inventing The Last Hero, Dom-2 and Star Factory. And Russian rap, growing from a courtyard pastime into a serious chunk of mass culture. On camera you get Konstantin Ernst, Bekmambetov himself, Konstantin Khabensky, Tina Kandelaki and other figures who were part of it.

Directors Ekaterina Zykova and Dmitriy Vladimirov skip the tidy textbook version and stage a crossroads of voices, some of them flatly disagreeing with each other. That clash is exactly what makes it worth watching — one decade seen from the inside by people who read it very differently.
