Synopsis
Rain at Summer's End (2024) is a Russian melodrama you can watch online on iFILM — a compact family saga about three households, the Dolskys, the Dymovs and the Markovs, each happy and unhappy in its own way.
The spark is almost straight out of Bunin: a "sunstroke" romance that once flared between student Olga Dymova and her teacher, Mikhail Dolsky. A breakup, then a chance meeting fifteen years later, sets off a whole chain of events. Olga is torn between Dolsky, the love of her youth, long since married to Lyudmila, and her current husband Alexander, a gifted heart surgeon. Just as fraught is the thread of Mikhail's best friend, Pyotr Markov, married to the lovely Rita.
Oksana Bayrak directs, with Maxim Drozd, Evgenia Kryukova and Anton Batyrev in the cast. A fit for anyone who likes unhurried melodramas about an old love resurfacing at exactly the wrong time. Stream Rain at Summer's End (2024) online on iFILM.
