Synopsis

Freya keeps to herself, shields her young son from strangers, and tries to bury her own childhood. Then a local girl vanishes, and the past refuses to stay buried. The show braids present and flashback so tightly that you spend hours unsure who is really who.
Adapted from J.P. Pomare's novel "In the Clearing" and loosely inspired by the real Australian cult known as The Family, the series stays cold and patient rather than jumpy.
