Synopsis

Thomas is a recent graduate adrift in his father's long shadow. His father (Brosnan) is a respected publisher; his mother (Cynthia Nixon) is quietly miserable. When Thomas discovers the affair his father is carrying on with Johanna (Beckinsale), he sets out to end it — and ends up drawn to her himself. The only person he talks to honestly is W.F. (Bridges), a whiskey-drinking neighbour who dishes out cryptic wisdom with the ease of someone who has seen this particular story before. A late revelation reframes every scene that came before it.
