"Balabol" (2014) is a Russian detective series you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Vladimir Melnik and starring Konstantin Yushkevich, Gosha Kutsenko, and Inga Oboldina. Every two episodes form a self-contained case: a provincial detective who goes by Sanya, proudly billing himself as a lone wolf, cracks crimes that his colleagues have long since written off as unsolvable.

The investigation is only part of what the show is about. Sanya is also untangling his feelings for his ex-wife, and his rookie partner — nicknamed Grasshopper — is visibly maturing from an impulsive kid into someone who can actually run an op.
