Synopsis
Zhurov (2009) is a Russian detective series you can watch online on iFILM, with Andrei Panin in the title role. Ivan Ivanovich Zhurov is an investigator in a small provincial city — scruffy, solitary, and thoroughly uninterested in what anyone thinks of him.
He drives an ageing Pobeda sedan with the Beatles on the radio, raises his daughter Lisa from a first marriage — calling her his Dr. Watson — and takes on the cases that more polished colleagues quietly pass on. Tangled crimes, local cover-ups, and the kind of criminal logic that only untangles when you stop looking for neat answers. Zhurov's methods exasperate his superiors and confound witnesses; the solutions arrive anyway. Svetlana Ivanova, Olga Tumaikina and Yelena Safonova co-star; the series was directed by Karen Oganesyan and Ilya Makarov.
