Synopsis
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) is a DC crime-action romp you can watch online on iFILM. Harley (Margot Robbie) has dumped the Joker and announced it to all of Gotham by blowing up a chemical plant.
Without the Joker's name shielding her, Harley loses her immunity overnight, and every crook she ever wronged comes calling. The biggest threat is Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor), a preening crime boss obsessed with a missing diamond that a young pickpocket named Cassandra Cain swallowed at the worst possible moment. To keep the girl alive, Harley reluctantly teams up with three women: singer Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett), detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) and crossbow-wielding Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).
Director Cathy Yan delivers something loud, jagged and unbothered by the usual superhero polish: the story jumps around in time, the jokes bite, and the fight scenes are staged with real invention. Robbie carries the whole mess on her shoulders. Stream Birds of Prey online on iFILM.
