Synopsis

Robert is a janitor with a half-written novel and no real plan. Celine is her wealthy father's spoiled daughter and expert at burning through money. When the father fires Robert on a whim, Robert does something impulsive: he kidnaps Celine. She frees herself almost immediately — but decides to stick around for the adventure anyway. Meanwhile, two angels named O'Reilly and Jackson are dispatched from above with a very specific brief: these two must fall in love, or their heavenly supervisors will be very displeased.
The third collaboration between Boyle and screenwriter John Hodge — after Shallow Grave and Trainspotting — this 1997 film swaps grit for karaoke, gunplay, and farce.
