Synopsis
Yesterday (2019) is a music-driven romantic fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Danny Boyle directed it from a script by Richard Curtis. Jack is a broke singer-songwriter in a small English town, ready to quit. Then a freak global blackout wipes The Beatles from everyone's memory.
Everyone but Jack. He starts playing "Yesterday," "Let It Be" and "Hey Jude" as his own, and within weeks the failed busker becomes a worldwide sensation. Himesh Patel carries nearly every scene; Lily James plays Ellie, the loyal manager and longtime love who risks getting left behind by his rise. Ed Sheeran shows up as himself and admits the newcomer writes better songs. The bigger the fame, the heavier the lie — and the harder it gets to notice who actually loved him first.
Curtis, who wrote Love Actually, and Boyle, who made Slumdog Millionaire, built an odd, warm hybrid: a comedy about fame, a love story, and a quiet tribute to four men from Liverpool.
