Synopsis
The Gold (2023), Season 1 is a BBC crime drama you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes built on the real Brink's-Mat raid near Heathrow in November 1983, when armed men walked out with bullion and diamonds worth £26 million.
The robbery is only the starting gun. The real problem driving the season is what you do with three tonnes of gold you can't simply spend. A chain forms to melt it down, feed it back into the market and wash the money clean, while DCI Brian Boyce builds a task force to pull the thread. The trail runs to Kent jeweller Kenneth Noye, to fixer John Palmer in Tenerife, and to launderers moving cash across Europe. Surveillance, raids, flights abroad and courtroom showdowns follow, and the net closes unevenly.
Writer Neil Forsyth keeps his distance from gangster glamour: this is a study of greed, class and Thatcher-era Britain, and what the chase costs everyone in it. Stream The Gold Season 1 online on iFILM, all episodes in good quality.
