Jenny works a miserable second job to keep her daughter Violet in art school, then tries every shortcut to a little extra cash. Wayne hatches his own doomed get-rich schemes. Grandma Betty chats with the ghost of her late husband and plots revenge on her lifelong rival, Crystalynn. Across the season the Harts take a beach vacation they can't afford, go ghost hunting, skip Thanksgiving dinner for Black Friday, and scrape together a Christmas on nothing. The joke is always the same: they're already rich and don't see it.
