Synopsis
Tony Rome (1967) is a sun-soaked Miami noir you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Gordon Douglas and running 110 minutes. Frank Sinatra plays the title character — a former cop turned private eye who lives on a houseboat and takes cases nobody else wants. When a wealthy businessman hires him to track down a diamond brooch that went missing from his daughter under suspicious circumstances, Rome assumes it'll be quick.
It isn't. One loose end pulls another, and soon Rome is navigating a world of Miami money and menace that gets more dangerous the closer he looks. Jill St. John, Gina Rowlands, and Richard Conte round out the cast of a film that moves fast and keeps the wisecracks coming.
Sinatra made this the same year as The Detective and pulled off something harder than it looks — a lead performance that's genuinely relaxed without being lazy. Stream Tony Rome online on iFILM for a late-'60s detective picture with real style and a sense of place.
