Synopsis
The Big Gundown (1967) is a Sergio Sollima spaghetti western you can watch online on iFILM, with Lee Van Cleef as lawman Jonathan Corbett and Tomas Milian as Cuchillo Sanchez, a Mexican peasant accused of raping and murdering a young girl.
Corbett is fast and relentless — and the chase takes him across deserts, ranches, and the border against a man who keeps slipping away with nothing but a knife and nerve. The longer the hunt runs, the harder it becomes to ignore who exactly sent Corbett after this particular target, and what they stand to gain from it.
Sollima shaped the film as a deliberate answer to the Leone school: less mythic spectacle, more class conflict and procedural doubt.
